Don't buy as they can't be returned. I ordered an extra small and it is equivalent to a large. I own these shorts in a different colour so I am pretty confident about the size.

The rise is high enough that it covers my belly button which makes these perfect to pair with a sports bra for hotter runs, but still look great with a tank/long sleeve for cooler runs. The length is also long enough so they don't chafe/ride up but short enough that they look so cute on. Please bring these back!! These are superior to the mid rise version!

athleta.gap.com/I have been wearing these shorts since they first released them. For me, they are perfect! I have larger thighs, so they aren't too tight and the high rise of the shorts is spot on! It hides my stomach (which is def a problem area for me) and I love that I can wear a cropped shirt or a longer shirt with them and both look good. They definitely aren't for everyone as my daughter who is built with leaner legs and less curves than me did not love them. But if you are curvy, these are definitely shorts I recommend. I'm 5'5" 150lbs and a medium. I am begging Athleta to bring these shorts back because they are wonderful as you can see from the many positive reviews!
