This dress is exactly what I've been looking for. It's a very simple silhouette that I can understand may not work for everyone. It's rouched along the waist so it's definitely form-fitting in that respect. I ordered my usual size (small tall) and it fit perfectly. I think the other reviews weren't ...buying for their actual size. It's a great length, doesn't feel too tight and has built in pads so it's bra free. This is not the dress to buy if you're worried about anything form fitting.

I wanted to love this dress. The material is too thick, would be warm on a hot day. I didn't like the built in shelf bra. The dress is bra friendly, no need for the shelf bra. Liked the ruching and side slit details! I ended up returning it, it wasn't the perfect black dress for me.

This is a good summer dress for its ease of wear. The built in bra is more compression style so it's not really giving a lot of lift, but I feel held in enough. I'm 5' 3" 122 lb and wear a 36D. The M fits perfectly and I like the length. And the navy is a good dark navy blue.

Love this dress. Very comfortable and flattering, but what is with Athleta and consistent sizing and the dreaded gaping arm holes??? I had first purchased the Transcend Maxi, and based on reviews, I ordered a Large. I am typically a Medium [5'5" / 141 lbs./a small-ish 36B]. The Large fit perfectly, which was a surprise since I don't have a large bust and am generally not a Large in anything else. The Medium would have been too tight in the body for sure. Fast forward to ordering the Essential V-Neck Midi. I ordered a Large because it looked very similar to the Trascend, but it was too big. The Medium fit well except the arm holes winged out like I was ready for take off. Too big/too much fabric, so I got it tailored. It turned out well. Just think twice knowing this could potentially add $ to your purchase. Hope these details help anyone else out there thinking of buying this dress!
